There are countless lakes in Dolomites.

We visited a few of the most touted lakes but while they are pretty, the top few mentioned in most travelling blogs are usually the most commercial; selling you boat rides, marked-up coffee and alcohol, and expensive paid toilets.

However, it was Lago di Landro (Dürrensee in German), a less well-known lake that was the most mesmerising.

Lesson learned: the best lake is often the one with the fewest tourists.
